Your role in the underwater research & conservation internship in Tenerife

Conduct underwater scientific sampling

Collect ecological data through scientific diving, including visual censuses, video surveys, and habitat monitoring

Study key marine habitats

Work on seagrass meadows and hard-bottom communities using standardized underwater research methods

Develop scientific diving skills

Participate in shore dives, night dives, plankton collection and debris removal while improving underwater techniques and safety

Analyse data & research results

Process collected data, support basic analysis, and learn how field results are translated into scientific outcomes

Build academic and research experience

Receive continuous mentoring, contribute to scientific reporting, and get support for thesis development and academic writing

By the end of this internship, you’ll gain hands-on experience in underwater marine research and conservation through scientific diving. You’ll actively collect and analyse data from different marine habitats, applying real research methodologies in the field. This experience will equip you with practical skills and academic support to progress towards a career in marine science, conservation, or research.

Costs and what’s included

1 month = 1250€ / consecutive months = 1200€ per month

Work schedule

16 dives in a month; you work 4 days a week for a minimum of 5 hours a day, up to 8.

Accommodation details

Flights and accommodation are not included, but we have an agreement with a hostel, which costs 760€ per month

Marine Biology Classes

Participate in various marine biology classes as part of your training

Mentorship & Professional Guidance

Receive continuous mentoring, support for thesis development, academic writing, and scientific reporting

Diving Insurance

Includes diving insurance valid for 1 year

Diving Equipment

Full set of diving equipment included for all participants

Scientific Diving Field Experience

Includes 16 dives, 1 night dive, and 1 boat dive to gain hands-on field experience

A scuba diving certification is required to join this internship. If you don’t have one yet,
simply add one extra week and earn your certification for just €499

Join a professional diving centre based in Los Cristianos, Tenerife, specialising in small-group, high-quality scuba diving experiences combined with marine science and education. The centre works with modern CRESSI equipment and follows Spanish safety and operational regulations, ensuring a safe and professional learning environment.

With access to diverse dive sites across the island—from shore dives at Playa Las Vistas to boat dives in the Palm-Mar area—See You Diving offers ideal conditions for underwater research and sampling. The centre is fully equipped with a classroom, analysis space, compressor and wet areas, allowing interns to combine fieldwork, data analysis, scientific reporting and mentoring in one integrated research setting.
